What is the ASMITHMUSIC LLC Wellness Artist Competition? 

In an effort to give performing opportunities to artists in the DMV, ASMITHMUSIC LLC is  embarking on a series of competitions. These competitions will happen throughout the year  and each competition theme will be culturally sound and community based. Through audience engagement, various artists will be able to develop a continued following and  performance experience that will prepare each artist for their future career in the arts. There  will be different divisions for each competition allowing different art forms the opportunity to  be showcased (Music, Theatre, Dance, Visual Arts, Literary Arts, Culinary Arts).  At the end of  each competition, the winner of the competition will be showcased in a ASMITHMUSIC LLC  event and win a prize that will contribute to their overall development, in hopes of advancing  their artistry. 

ASM Artist Competition 2024– MARCH/APRIL Competition 

Theme: Wellness

Artist Type: Music/Literary Performing Artist (Singer/Instrumentalist/Producer/Spoken-Word/Poet/Rapper)

Competition Requirements: 

- Artist must reside in the DMV area 

- Artist must be at least 18 years of age. If artist is under the age of 18, parental consent is  required  

- Artist must follow the ASMITHMUSIC LLC Instagram page @ASMITHMUSIC_LLC 

Competition Rules: 

-Artist must fill out the ASMITHMUSIC LLC Artist Application and submit the non-refunable $20 application fee digitally to ASMITHMUSIC LLC by the application deadline. (Cash App - $ASMITHMUSIC2020/ Paypal - ASMITHMUSIC LLC)

-Artist must post a video recording of no longer than 60 seconds, showcasing their performance art (singing, playing an instrument, production of a beat, performance of spoken word, rapping, performance of a poem)

- This video may be an original piece or a cover. If you do not own the rights, please make  that disclaimer.  

-Post your video on instagram and invite ASMITHMUSIC LLC to be a collaborator. Videos must be posted by the Video Post deadline.

-Voting will be based on likes from the video you posted on the instagram page. We will be able to keep a record because of the collaboration tool used on Instagram.

-There will be two rounds of voting. The first round will be within a 12-day period. During this first round, all applicants will have their videos voted on by the public and featured in ASM’s story. At the end of the 12-day period, votes will be finalized and from that tallying, the top 3-5 artists will be selected for the final round of voting. The final round of voting will take place over a 12-day period, after which a competition winner will be selected and announced.

-The final round will require a second video that should be posted, just like the first. This video can be the continuation of the original video or a completely different song. This can not be a re-submission of the original video used in the first round.

What does an artist win?

-The first and second runner up will have the opportunity to perform in the next An die Musik Concert Series Concert produced by ASMITHMUSIC LLC. This is tentatively planned for the evening of Thursday, June 27th and each artist will be asked to perform their competition selections. Details of this opportunity will be discussed closer to the concert date.

-The winner will be featured in the next An die Musik Concert Series Concert produced by ASMITHMUSIC LLC. This is the same concert mentioned above and also is tentatively planned for the evening of Thursday, June 27th . The competition winner will be given a 20min set and may present music of their choice.

-The winner will receive a total of 5 hours of studio time provided by ASMITHMUSIC LLC to be used however they wish. The 5 hours of studio time will used at a local studio of ASM’s choosing. This will take place during ASMITHMUSIC’s 2024-25 season.

-The winner will be given the opportunity to be a part of the ASMITHMUSIC Mentorship Initiative which includes consulting sessions with Grammy Award Winning Music Producer Andrae Alexander. Details and arrangements will be discussed following the conclusion of the competition

-The winner will be given the opportunity to present a full concert of their original work in ASM’s 2024-25 season. All marketing and production needs associated with the concert will be provided by ASM. Details and arrangements will be discussed following the conclusion of the competition.

Artist Application Submission Deadline - Sunday, March 31st at 11:59pm

1st Video Post Deadline - Sunday, April 7th @ 11:59pm

Round 1 Voting Ends -  Saturday, April 20th @ 11:59pm

Final Round Contestants announced on Sunday, April 21st

2nd Video Post Deadline - Tuesday, April 23rd @ 11:59pm

Final Round Voting Ends -  Monday, May 6th @ 11:59pm

Winner Announced on Wednesday, May 8th
