Join us for a three-day event at Grace Episcopal Church in Silver Spring, as we highlight the importance and necessity of Sacred Music through "A Sacred Music Festival" themed EPIC. Through this festival, our goal is to:
- Educate the community about messages of faith, hope, and love through sacred music
- Preserve the music that carries these messages
- Inspire the heart of people from all walks of life
- Create lasting and impactful musical experiences with artists, musicians, and other communities.

The Sam Bonds Chorale Open Rehearsal
Come and experience an open rehearsal with The Sam Bonds Chorale as they prepare for the upcoming concert on Sunday. During this rehearsal, you will be able to observe our process and participate in a reading session. Thanks to one of our sponsors, GIA Publications, we will be able to provide choral octavos to all those who attend this open rehearsal FOR FREE! We will also read through one of the pieces that we will ask the audience to participate in on Sunday, so come ready to SING!

The Edward Jackson Sacred Music Competition

This year’s competition, named in honor of tenor, educator, and choral conductor Edward Jackson, provides the opportunity for singers to present arias and songs with sacred themes, including but not limited to spirituals, gospel, contemporary worship songs, and hymns, as well as pieces from oratorios, cantatas, masses, and requiems.

ASMITHMUSIC Masterclass Series and This Is My Story, This Is My Song Recital

In our inaugural presentation of the Masterclass Series, singers from the competition will have the opportunity to work with the judges on the repertoire they have prepared. As a singer, getting feedback and working it out in person is part of learning the art and style, and learning how to adjust makes you a better performer. We invite you to join us as our master clinician works with these incredible artists.

To close out day two of the festival, and as part of the An die Musik Concert Series, we will be presenting tenor Darnell Roulhac in a recital of sacred and inspirational music. A tenor with a glorious voice and amazing expression will be singing works that will uplift the hearts and minds of those who attend. This will be a musical experience you don’t want to miss!
Sacred Music Choral Concert feat. The Sam Bonds Chorale
Sacred Music Festival, DAY THREE
4pm
In the final event of the festival, the Sam Bonds Chorale will perform in concert. This concert will feature works by James Furman, Gioachino Rossini, Hall Johnson, R. Nathaniel Dett, Joseph Joubert, and others. It will take the listener through various choral genres of sacred music, from anthems to spirituals, hymns, and some combinations of the three. Join the Sam Bonds Chorale as they kick off their 4th season as an ensemble dedicated to preserving sacred and inspirational music. A freewill offering will be collected, followed by a reception.
